Dictionary Data Sources

Attribution and download links for the dictionaries that power MoaVoca's word lookups.

MoaVoca builds its word lookup feature on top of several openly-licensed dictionary datasets, most distributed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA). We attribute each source and link to its upstream dataset and license below. The example sentences, translations, and explanations shown in the app are generated by our own pipeline; we use the open word-sets as factual reference data and re-select them. Where any content we publish is a derivative of a CC BY-SA dataset, that derivative is made available under the same CC BY-SA license as required by the source.

How we use this data

License compliance. MoaVoca's use of these sources satisfies the BY (attribution) clause via this page and the in-app credits at Settings → Open Source Licenses → Dictionary Data Sources. To the extent MoaVoca redistributes an adapted copy of any CC BY-SA dataset, that adapted copy is licensed under the same CC BY-SA license (or a compatible one) and is made available on request (see below), satisfying the SA (ShareAlike) clause.
Need our processed copy?
Researchers, developers, or fellow open-source projects who would like a snapshot of MoaVoca's import-normalized dataset (rather than the upstream original) may request one by emailing support@moavoca.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
